1:6 - Getting Started
To be able to subscribe to the F-Prot AVES service, you are required to have your own domain. When you have signed up for F-Prot AVES e-mail service, all your incoming e-mail will be intercepted and filtered according to the policy of your subscription. Each time an incoming e-mail is modified to protect you, a message with a link to the unmodified message will be sent to your inbox. The messages you receive from F-Prot AVES service regarding modified messages can vary, all depending on the action taken by F-Prot AVES to protect you from hazardous mail. If the filter modifies your message in any way, you will receive a message about it.
2:6 - A message telling you that an attachment was deleted from your e-mail
A message telling you that an attachment was deleted from your e-mail
If you get this message it means that F-Prot AVES has removed a security risk, e.g. deleted an attachment from your e-mail. Today most viruses are transmitted through e-mail as attachments. By deleting an attachment that is infected, F-Prot AVES prevents the virus from infecting your computer.
3:6 - A message telling you that F-Prot AVES has modied the original message
A message telling you that F-Prot AVES has modied the original message
If you get this message it means that F-Prot AVES has modified the original message in some way, e.g. disabled some HTML.
4:6 - A message telling you that a file was renamed
A message telling you that a file was renamed
If you get this message it means that F-Prot AVES has renamed a file that was attached to your e-mail. Usually no viruses or trojans were found and the changes made to protect you from any new and unknown threats. Better to be safe than sorry!
5:6 - The Message Quarantine
The first time you enter the Message Quarantine through a link sent to you as a notice of a modified message, the F-Prot AVES system will ask you to log in. Enter your e-mail address and click the button offering to send you a password. You will receive a password a short while later in e-mail and can then log in to the F-prot AVES center and view unmodified messages.
The Message Quarantine
The message Quarantine is very similar to an e-mail Inbox except that it only stores messages that F-Prot AVES has changed in some way. The sanitized messages you receive have been cleaned according to your active policy but the original unmodified messages are stored in the Quarantine until they expire (usually 60 days later). This allows you to easily recover messages mistakenly blocked by the generic mail sanitizer or the antivirus engine.
6:6 - The Backup System
The Message Quarantine
Due to hardware, software or user errors, it is easy to lose valuable information contained in e-mail. A comprehensive backup system therefore both increases security and saves time and money.

The Backup system, just like the Message Quarantine, looks very much like an inbox. The Backup system will store your e-mails for up to 90 days, all according to your subscription policy.

To retreive messages from the Backup system, simply click on the message you want and select "Resend this e-mail".
